Sunday, Jan 11th

06:00 am - ????           Unofficial Skiing at Keystone Ski Resort

If you ski and/or snowboard, January is prime ski season in Colorado and the snow here is unmatched anywhere in the country!  Members of the Colorado Section YMG will be heading up to Keystone Ski Resort early on Sunday morning to get their ski on.  Please note that this event is not sanctioned or reimbursed by ASCE, transportation is NOT guarantee, and travel and ski at your own risk.

The caravan will be LEAVING from the hotel lobby at 6am.  The drive to Keystone takes approximately 2 hours.  I-70 sees significantly heavy traffic on weekend mornings and leaving much later can add an extra hour to 2 hours to the drive if you get stuck in traffic.   We will caravan up to the resort, and there will likely be a few open spots in people’s cars, but a ride is not guaranteed. See Section 12 in the Program Binder for driving directions.

Keystone offers varied terrain for all levels of experience, but if you are a beginner, it is highly recommended that you take a lesson offered through the Keystone website (http://keystone.snow.com).

If you have an evening flight home, please take into consideration that there is also significantly heavy mountain traffic at 4 pm heading east on I-70.  Just like the morning, if you leave the ski resort at 4 pm, you could add an additional 2 hour or more to your drive.  If you need to catch an evening flight, plan to be on the road heading east on I-70 no later than 3:00 pm.  If it’s snowing, plan on being on the road even earlier.

If you need to rent gear there are a number of options in the Denver Metro area to save you money (vs the ski resort rates) and give you the option of picking up your gear Saturday evening to save time on Sunday.  Check out the following links if you are interested:
